As a result to the recent situation in Ninawa governorate (second biggest governorate in Iraq and Baghdad the Capital) and after the control of the armed groups on the whole governorate, thousands families leave their houses toward the near Kurdistan Region where thousands of women, children and old people have been flocked.
Iraqi Red Crescent Society forms Operation Cell through its branches in Erbil, Dohuk, Sulaimaniah and Kirkuk governorates (which are close to Ninawa governorate) to respond to the humanitarian needs of the displaced people.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Khuzaie (Assistant Secretary General for the Technical Affairs in the Iraqi Red Crescent-IRCS-) said ” IRCS’s volunteers are doing their best to relieve the displaced people from Ninawa governorate where more than 300 000 individuals have been entered Kurdistan region during the last two days. Kurdistan region authorities allow to 150 000 displaced persons to enter Erbil governorate and for another 150 000 displaced persons to enter Dohuk governorate. IRCS provides the displaced people in Erbil & Dohuk governorates with more than 60 000 hot meals.
All these families are living in hotels, hosting communities, mosques and public places such as governmental institutions.. etc.
We express our worry from the current humanitarian situation for the people who still living in Ninawa governorate, where more than hundreds of thousands families are still without health services, electricity and other services inside the Ninawa governorate”.
