Since the beginning the fierce battles that took place in the city of Fallujah during the past few days, a large number of displaced families flee towards the regions of Khaldia, the tourist city and the Ameriyat Al-Fallujah, and according to the latest statistics of the Iraqi Red Crescents’ teams the number of the displaced families has reach to ( 12587) family during which the humanitarian situation becomes increasingly difficult with the increasing of the humanitarian needs (food , water, housing and health services).
The wave of displacement has make the Iraqi Red Crescent Society to mobilize its capacities and redouble its efforts to response to the needs of displaced, as the Iraqi Red Crescent society is the first Humanitarian Organization which provided assistance to the displaced families after the Iraqi army had provided the families with safety ways to get out the city in the beginning of the events.
Due to the increasing in the number of the displaced, the Iraqi Red Crescent has worked to intensify its relief campaign and to involve its branches in Baghdad, Babil and Najaf in its relief operations and immediate response to the needs of displaced people from Fallujah.
The Iraqi Red Crescent Society has distributed since the beginning of the events at Fallujah and so far more than (92000) loaf of bread by its bakeries which made for the displaced, and has distributed more than (7,000) food meal prepared in the kitchens that opened recently in the camps, adding to distribute more than (54,000) bottled water. The Iraqi Red Crescents’ teams has also distributed more than (4400) food parcels to the displaced families in the Ameryat Al-Fallujah and Habbaniah camps.
In the same context, the Crescents’ health teams provided health services to more than (12,000) displaced through providing lectures in the field of psychosocial support and first aid, adding to other treatments have been provided to the displaced families.
