On Friday, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has announced the sterilisation of more than 10,000 sites as part of the procedures to prevent Coronavirus, stressing that all its offices in Baghdad and the governorate are in a state of alert.
The IRCS has said in a statement, “During the past days, its teams and offices in Baghdad and the governorates were able to sterilise and purify more than 10,000 sites within the procedures to prevent Coronavirus, noting that the sterilisation operations covered the markets, shops, residential areas, hospitals, health institutions, prisons, mosques and shelters.”
The IRCS has also said, “The shrines that were sterilised covered the perimeter of the holy shrine of Imam Ali ( peace be upon him) in Najaf and the vicinity of the Husseiniya and Abbasid thresholds in the holy governorate of Karbala and the shrine of Imam al-Kadhim (peace be upon him) and Imam Abu Hanifa al-Numan and Hadra al-Qadiriya in the capital Baghdad, as well as a number of other shrines.”
The IRCS has added, “The sterilisation operations also included the military headquarters, the locations of the Iraqi army and federal police due to the continued presence there by those affiliated to implement the curfew decision, stressing that the IRCS offices in Baghdad and the governorates are in a constant state of alert.”
The IRCS has explained, “In its campaigns, they use tanks and mobile sprinklers on cars roaming the streets,” noting that “sterilisation operations are accompanied by distributing educational leaflets on ways to prevent Coronavirus and urging citizens to stay in their homes using loudspeakers and ambulances.”
