Escalating the wave of displacement from the city of Fallujah due to the battles in the city, since two weeks ago the number of displaced people was growing from the outskirts of the city and inside it to reach 14 thousand displaced people, who were able to reach a safe area.
the displaced have told the human suffering that they had during the past three months in Fallujah, which is witnessing unrest situation since a long time.
“Nasrat Hamad,” who lived in a suburb of city before she resorted to Ameryat Al-Fallujah camps said “three months ago, the city’s population are suffering from a severe shortage of food and medical supplies and other services, as the prices of food has escalated, I am since three months doing grind peas to make a bread for my children, there is no flour or rice or any other food”.
while Jassim Mohammed said “there is no any health services to for a long time in the city, nor access to medicines in the city as it is almost impossible, now and after the fighting broke out, we had no choice but to flee to the camp and live in it, we get now on, food and water treatment provided by the Red Crescent Society and others”.
Within the increase in the numbers of civilians and their flow, the Iraqi Ministry of Displacement with other government agencies, backed by the International Migration Organization and some other organizations, has established seven new camps in Ameriyat Al-Fallujah to accommodate the displaced from Fallujah, it have been added to (14) camps inhabited by displaced people from across Anbar since long period, as well as (23) other camps in the tourist city, that include the new camps which is “Iraq camp, Fallujah, Ikram Al-Fallujah,Somod, Tahady and Zawab’a” Although these is enough to have 2000 family, but it did not accommodate the number of displaced people. Currently there are another camp being making.
And with the growing number of displaced people, the humanitarian challenges is growing that related to relief , shelter and food adding to other humanitarian services, and The Iraqi Red Crescent has the responsibility like a first responder to the needs of displaced people, it was able to provide a ready and dry meals, drinking water for more than 9,000 displaced people.
Dr Yasin Al-Mamouri, the Head of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society said “the Society strives to meet the needs of all displaced people, the Society is the first responder on the front lines of the crisis in Fallujah and other areas where humanitarian conditions are volatile, the humanitarian situation is becoming increasingly difficult, however, the Society’s’ teams continue to meet the needs of the displaced and to mobilize the abilities and human resources for that, and we are confident that we have the capacity to face this crisis, as we faced previous crises with the insistence of our volunteers and the support of our partners”.
The volunteer Firas Najib in Faiiuja said “our rescue teams were able to help the majority of displaced people from the city of Fallujah during the past few days, and we will continue day and night in distributing the food, water, first aid and psychosocial support for these families”.
The Assembly has sent during the past two days, a new aid convoys from Baghdad to Anbar, to cover food and health needs of displaced people in the Ameriyat Al-Fallujah and Habbaniyah camps, adding to relief operations carried out by volunteers during evacuating the ongoing displacement of families.
Ahmed Abdul Amir, director of Disaster Management in the Iraqi Red Crescent said, “The Society has mobilized its capabilities in order to respond to relief the displaced, and has sent new reinforcements during the past two days include food parcels, blankets and healthy materials. The Society is continuing to send humanitarian reinforcements for displaced people from the city of Fallujah.”
