In response to the emergence of foot-and-mouth disease cases in various areas of Dhi Qar governorate, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) of Dhi Qar branch has launched a wide-scale awareness campaign covering several regions of the governorate.
Mr. Amer Hameed Abd, Director of Dhi Qar branch, stated:
“The IRCS teams, in cooperation with the Veterinary hospital, Community Police, and the department of Agriculture, organized an extensive awareness campaign about the foot-and-mouth disease virus. The campaign included the distribution of educational brochures and the delivery of field lectures targeting butcher shops, livestock breeders, and the local community.”
“More than 60 volunteers and staff members participated in this campaign, which covered the areas of Suq al-Shuyukh, Al-Shatra, Al-Rifai, Al-Nasr, Qal’at Sukkar, Al-Fajr, Al-Chibayish, and Al-Fuhoud.”, Hameed added.
