Twenty trainees from various parts of the province of Diyala have attended a maintenance of (RO) stations training workshop that was organised by the Iraqi Red Crescent Society.
The organisation of this workshop fits within the capacity development initiative and programmes to teach young people about labour market skills, Haider Ahmed, Diyala branch’s communication coordinator stated.
He continued, “Over the course of the five-day workshop, participants received theoretical and practical lectures, interspersed with field trips to the stations to learn about their operation and maintenance”.
At the conclusion of the workshop, hand tools and certificates of participation were given out to the attendees, who were now qualified to find employment and continue a career to support themselves. Due to the severe drought that ravaged their agricultural areas, many of these young people lost their means of support.
