The water distribution centers that were established in a number of areas and villages in the Babil Governorate that experience a drinking water shortage have undergone periodic maintenance by the teams of the Iraqi Red Crescent’s Construction and Sanitation Unit.
Mr. Nawar Abdel Qader, the director of the Building and Sanitation Department, explained that the Building and Sanitation Unit visited the field this month to maintain water tanks, follow up on water testing, and maintain them as part of the Red Crescent’s plan to restore water projects and ensure access to drinking water during the summer.
In order to meet the requirements for providing people with water through tank trucks and prevent the drought problem in those areas, Mr. Nawar noted that coordination had been made with the supporting authorities represented by the Babylon Water Directorate and the other government institutions.
He also mentioned that the Red Crescent had previously set up (13) water distribution centers with tanks holding a capacity of (5000) liters each in a number of locations and villages in the districts of Shomali, Al-Qasim, and Al-Mahaweel. The total number of beneficiary families reached more than (150) families, and there was also a memorial built as a result. In addition to install a tank in one of the schools in Imam district that would provide drinking water for more than (200) students.
