In cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme organization (UNDP), the Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has conducted cleaning and awareness campaigns which cover all of Iraq governorates on the occasion of World Cleanup day.
The IRCS has reported in a statement ” This activity comes coinciding with similar activities that took place in more than 150 countries around the world, where the IRCS`s teams have conducted with the participation of 5000 staff and volunteer cleaning and awareness campaigns supported by the municipalities departments in all the governorates of Iraq”.
The statement has added that the the IRCS`s teams have already monitored the waste sites in different places and they have removed all these wastes in order to maintain a healthy and sustainable environment, also the IRCS`s teams have distributed more than 10,000 kilos of trash bags and 10,000 of hand gloves.
The World Cleanup Day is a voluntary day in which different public places are selected and the volunteers are working to clean them.
