Education is considered one of the most damaged sectors in the areas that witnessed acts of violence, where the conditions of these schools and the educational sector in general in these areas to a very difficult situation and are no longer suitable for educational activities, which create a harsh and unhealthy environment for the educational process of students.
Within the program of rehabilitating the damaged schools that are arranged by Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) in cooperation with the partners in the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent, the IRCS in Diyala governorate has rehabilitated 11 schools in the districts of Baquba, Khanaqin, and Jalawla, in these schools the teams of the IRCS have replaced and established new health tools, installing water desalination and filtering units, installing water tanks in a capacity of 1000 liters in every school, also installing windows and doors, paint the wools and the study seats in a number of classes, also the teams of the IRCS have equipped every school with first aid kit which contains antiseptics, bandages, and various first aid tools.
The IRCS has chosen the above-mentioned schools as the most affected after an assessment was conducted to learn about its numbers and assess the extent of the damage to be included in the rehabilitation program.
