The waves of displacement from the city of Fallujah has escalated due to the fierce battles in the city, the number of displaced people from the outskirts of the city and inside it was more than 20 thousand displaced people who were able to reach to safer area, the human suffering is increasing at Fallujah which is witnessing unrest situation since a long time.
Meantime increasing the numbers of civilians and their flow, the Iraqi Ministry of Displacement and other government agencies backed by the International Organization of Migration and some other organizations has established more than 50 camps in the areas of Chemawy, Ameriyat Al-Fallujah and the tourist city. Due to the increase in the number of displaced people, new camps have been installed like (Iraq camp, Fallujah, Ikram Al-Fallujah, Somod, Tahady and Zawab’a camp). With the growth at the number of displaced people, the humanitarian challenges that related to relief, shelter, food and other humanitarian services are also growing.
The Iraqi Red Crescents’ teams play the role of first responder to the needs of displaced people, as they were able to provide dry and ready meals and drinking water for more than 14,000 displaced people. The Crescents’ teams distributed more than 24,000 pieces of bread for the displaced families at Fallujah camp adding to more than 25000 food parcels, as well as providing families daily with water and ready food.
The volunteer Firas Najib at Faiiuja said “our rescue teams were able to help the majority of displaced people who flee from city of Fallujah during the past few days, and we will continue over day and night distributing the food, water, and pread for these families”. He also added that the Society has mobilized its capabilities in order to respond to relief the displaced, and has sent new reinforcement included food parcels, blankets and health materials. The Society is continues to send humanitarian reinforcements for displaced people from Fallujah.
