Report by: Hassan Hamza.

The previous two decades have witnessed the worsening and acceleration of climate change’s significant consequences in Iraq, highlighting complex economic and societal challenges that cannot be remedied with superficial remedies. The goal is to strengthen local communities’ capacity to face these issues by strategic planning based on future expectations and adaptation to the new reality, for that, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has organized a workshop in Ramadi district as part of the enhanced vulnerability and capacity assessment (EVCA) program, which was attended by a number of local community leaders and the governmental representatives.

The above – mentioned workshop focused on the most pressing concerns and issues confronting the Ankur and Al-Majar areas, as well as strategies for finding effective and long-term solutions, also the training workshop featured a field tour to the Anbar Water and Water Resources departments in order to assess the service and infrastructure conditions in the two locations, as part of the IRCS efforts to improve communities’ ability to react to disasters.
