Since the beginning of Mosul operation till now, thousands of people have flowed from different areas of Mosul to the displaced camps of (Hussan Sham and Al-Khazer in Erbil, Zelikan in Duhok and Jada’a in Qyarah), the number of displaced people has reached more than (35) thousands people till now. Meanwhile the local resident has took a save security access which facilitate them to be away from unsecured areas and went to displaced camps. The displaced people have taken a three main center toward Erbil, Dhuok and south of Mosul.
Since the beginning of the operation, The Iraqi Red Crescent Society supported by its partners from the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to cover the emergency needs of displaced families in the above mention different centers of displacement.
Dr.Yaseen Al-Mamoori, the President of Iraqi Red Crescent Society said “Iraqi Red Crescent Society’s volunteers are doing their utmost in responding to displaced people’s emergency needs and also to the local residents at cities and villages on the lines of fighting. We are continuing in helping them in the fields of (relief, food, health and psychosocial support) that supported by our partners in the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies with high level of coordination with all the parties on the ground”.
The Society has increase its efforts in relief operations and has distributed different food meals including daily food meals, food parcels to all the displaced people as the number of distributed food ration that has reached more than 42 thousand ration and more than 8 thousand food parcels that covered all the displaced, while Iraqi Red Crescents’ teams are duplicating their efforts to meet the needs of displaced who are still flowing to displaced camps from a different areas.
On the other hand, a large number of local residents preferred not to flee from their homes and to stay in until the end of the operations. The Red Crescents’ relief teams were managed to enter convoys of relief assistance to Hamam Al-Alil city and distributed it to more than (3800) family, while other Red Crescents’ teams were able to enter convoys of relief assistance and distributed it at Al-Intesar district in Mosul, these teams has took advantage of the secured roads which allows the relief teams and first aid teams to go to these cities to help the people.
In the same time, Red Crescents’ volunteers have implemented daily campaigns of first aid and psychosocial support for displaced people in the camps and cities that witness fierce fighting in recent days.
