The Iraqi Red Crescent provides medical and emergency services to more than 75,000 Ashura ritual participants.

The Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS), in accordance with its humanitarian principles and active role in assisting public authorities, has provided medical, health, and emergency services to more than (75,707) participants in the commemoration of the tenth day of Muharram (Ashura) in several Iraqi governorates.

The IRCS has reported in a statement that the above-mentioned humanitarian effort was implemented by mobilizing more than (900) of the IRCS staff, including employees and volunteers, they are supported by (15) ambulances and (6) mobile medical clinics to provide services in the holy sites (Najaf, Karbala, and Kadhimiya) and mourning sites, where the services provided included (19,552) cases that received medical care, (33,968) cases that were dealt with by first aid teams, (574) cases that were transported by ambulance to medical centers, and (21,613) beneficiaries who received health advice and awareness from the IRCS teams who are deployed at the mourning sites.

The IRCS has also added that the services provided were distributed across Karbala governorate, where the number of beneficiaries from medical and emergency services has reached (23,409) people, while in Najaf, the beneficiaries reached 9,877, and 2,608 in Kadhimiya city of Baghdad, while the beneficiaries in the governorates of (Babil, Nineveh, Basra, Dhi Qar, Maysan, Muthanna, Diwaniyah, and Wasit) has reached 39,813 people.

In conclusion, the IRCS has stated that its staff will continue to work around the clock during the days of Muharram to provide medical and humanitarian support to citizens, praising the efforts of its volunteers and medical staff, and the great cooperation with government, security, and health agencies to ensure the success of this national humanitarian effort.
