The Iraqi Red Crescent launched an initiative to establish four desalination facilities in Muthanna.

Many isolated locations of Muthanna Governorate are experiencing a serious clean water shortage, which has had a significant impact on the living and health circumstances of thousands of households.

To alleviate the effects of drinking water scarcity, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society has begun pouring four desalination stations across the province.

The media coordinator of the Iraqi Red Crescent in Muthanna, Najm Shun, stated: “This initiative comes within the framework of the humanitarian efforts of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society that aim to mitigate the effects of climate change on the groups affected by it, and has begun a project to install four stations in each of the villages of Al-Saib in Al-Najmi District, Al-Bushtait in Al-Khader District, and the villages of Al-Antar and Al-Ghanem affiliated with Al-Karma District.”

He emphasised that the RO stations will be completed and operational by the end of this year, and that they will supply free drinking water to the inhabitants of these communities once each station’s production capacity reaches 5000 litres per hour.
