The Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has implemented a campaign to distribute more than 35,000 Ramadan food parcels in all governorates during the month of Ramadan.
The above – mentioned distribution of food parcels comes within the framework of the IRCS’s keenness to provide various humanitarian aids to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable groups in community.
Ahmed Al-Jubouri, director of the disaster department in the IRCS, says: “The IRCS’s teams have began distributing food parcels at the beginning of Ramadan, as more than 35,000 integrated Ramadan food items were distributed in all governorates.”
The distribution campaign coincided with the month of Ramadan, in which the spirit of solidarity and social synergy is embodied, this campaign embodies the humanitarian principles that the IRCS believes in the need to extend a helping hand, assisting and supporting the needy families and contribute to providing the requirements of Ramadan month to alleviate their living burdens.
Al-Jubouri has explained: “The food parcel contains approximately (10) types of basic foodstuffs, which is an annual initiative carried out by the Red Crescent to help and support classes of community from low-income families, families with special needs, and widows with the aim of alleviating their living suffering, especially in Ramadan month.” .
Al-Jubouri has stressed that the IRCS was keen to distribute the parcels for its beneficiaries, and also took into account the number of members of the same family during the distribution and the poverty rate in each governorate.”
Al-Jubouri pointed out: “In order to promote the values of volunteering, all volunteer teams of the IRCS were involved during the campaign to distribute the food parcels in the governorates, where the number of participating volunteers reached more than (2000) male and female volunteers.”
