Iraqi Red Crescent Organizes Workshop on Community Engagement for Its Teams in Basra.
The Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) of Basra branch held a training workshop titled “Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA), Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI)” for the teams of Dhi Qar and Basra branches.
The three-day workshop aimed to emphasize the importance of the IRCS volunteers engaging with the community in order to understand their real needs and find suitable solutions.
The trainer Ashraf Ali explained: “Understanding the needs and priorities of the local community is essential to our work, as it enables us to provide better services and discover the capacities they possess, which we can then build upon.”
“In order to achieve more effective, sustainable, and high-quality outcomes, it is vital to value all members of the community and recognize them as equal partners through open and honest communication.”, He added.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the participants agreed on the importance of understanding the community and identifying the best ways to work with it by learning about its relationships, culture, demographic structure, and recognizing its needs and capabilities.
