The Iraqi, Jordanian, and Egyptian Red Crescent Societies, as well as the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, have agreed on the “Amman Declaration,” which states that collaborative humanitarian efforts and to develop a model for cooperation and integration in the humanitarian and development sectors are consistent with the national strategic direction and objectives in 2030.
The tripartite meeting of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Red Crescent Societies, the Republic of Iraq, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the International Federation, which took place between 11 and 12 August 2021, concluded with the Jordanian Red Crescent being hosted in Amman.
The partners decided to step up their efforts and build a work program focused on climate change, food security, and livelihoods, in light of the global ramifications of the Covid-19 epidemic on people’s lives everywhere.
“As partners, we emphasized the critical importance of implementing the best methods and mechanisms for implementing our strategic relationships on the ground, particularly in the areas of disaster preparedness and response, volunteer development and management, addressing the climate change crisis, and enhancing livelihoods, “Dr. Hossam El Sharkawy, Regional Director of the International Federation, stated. With technical aid from the International Federation, we chose to share our experiences, particularly those relevant to working with refugees and internally displaced individuals.
Additionally, the delegates agreed on the crucial importance of joint efforts to enhance local and regional resources, as well as to discover new sources and methods of funding. They decided to establish a technical working group to develop a road map for joint training of National Societies’ members and volunteers, to mobilize the necessary resources for implementation, and to develop a unified program to assist National Societies in strengthening their capabilities through the assistance of the International Federation’s Capacity Building Fund.
