The Social Peace Building Centre Holds a Seminar in Dhi Qar Governorate
The Social Peace Building Centre, in collaboration with the Iraqi Red Crescent Society / Dhi Qar Branch, organized a seminar titled “The Role of National Societies in Building Social Peace: The Iraqi Red Crescent as a Model” in Nasiriyah City on May 17, 2025, the event was attended by academic and social figures, as well as representatives from civil society organizations, members, and volunteers of the IRCS.
The above – mentioned seminar began with a presentation by Mr. Farqan Qais Shurba, the director of the Social Peace Building Centre, who provided an overview of the centre as one of the specialized bodies under the Islamic Committee of the International Red Crescent, funded by the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, He also discussed its field of expertise, strategy, and key activities.
Meanwhile, the director of Dhi Qar branch of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society presented an explanation of the role of the IRCS volunteers in maintaining civil peace through practical interventions. This includes resolving disputes, negotiating with parties, and defusing crises, all through the acceptance and trust the IRCS has earned from all parties due to its distinguished role, professionalism in its work, and adherence to the principles of the international movement.
