The Iraqi Red Crescent Organizes a Proactive Workshop to Assess Potential Risks and Develop Response Plans
The Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has held a training workshop on “Proactive Action” at its headquarters in Basra governorate, with the participation of a group of its staff and volunteers from the Basra and Dhi Qar branches, as well as representatives from the IRCS main headquarters.
The four-day training workshop covered several key topics related to the importance of adopting a proactive approach in setting the IRCS priorities and delivering services to local communities across all governorates of the country.
During the workshop, Mr. Nawar Abdul Qader, the director of the Construction and Sanitation department, emphasized: “ The proactive action helps chart a clear course for the IRCS efforts by studying potential risks and problems and developing pre-emptive plans to address them”. Nawar has stressed the need to “activate early warning systems to reduce the impact of disasters and crises.
“To ensure optimal preparedness, it is essential to adopt well-studied action plans and protocols agreed upon with international donors.”, Nawar added.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the representative of the Danish Red Cross in Iraq praised the Iraqi Red Crescent Society’s efforts in enhancing early humanitarian response.
