Iraqi Red Crescent Center for International Humanitarian Law organize Workshop on Islamic International Humanitarian Law in Najaf.
The Iraqi Red Crescent center for International Humanitarian Law organized a workshop for specialists and activists in the field of international humanitarian law, held at Al-Markaz hall in the holy city of Najaf.
The workshop was titled: “Foundations of Islamic International Humanitarian Law”, and was presented by Professor Dr. Abbas Aboud Abbas, an expert in international law and a member of the centre’s Board of Directors, he provided an overview of the international humanitarian law and its mechanisms of implementation, highlighting the strong connection between international humanitarian law and the noble principles of Islam. His presentation added an important dimension to the significance of this body of law in protecting individuals, civilian objects, and preserving human dignity.
Dr. Abbas also engaged with participants in discussing current issues and ongoing global events related to the topic.
The above – mentioned workshop was attended by a group of legal officers and staff from the Ministry of Defense who specialize in this field, along with members and volunteers of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society.
