Iraqi Red Crescent Conducts First Aid Workshops in Several Schools and Universities Across Iraq

The first aid can be critical in saving lives or reducing the severity of injuries, therefore, everyone should learn the basics of first aid due to its importance in our daily lives.
As part of the IRCS programs to promote health awareness and foster a spirit of volunteerism to provide immediate assistance in critical situations that may help save lives, the IRCS has implemented training workshops concerning first aid in various schools and universities across different governorates in Iraq. The aim of these workshops is to equip trainees with knowledge and skills on how to provide first aid for injuries resulting from accidents or natural disasters.
The above – mentioned workshops included theoretical lectures and practical exercises in the field of first aid. Topics covered included treating fractures, burns, bleeding, fainting, sunstroke, electric shocks, choking, seizures, and heart attacks. In addition, the participants were introduced to the characteristics and qualifications of a first aider, as well as the contents of a first aid kit.
These workshops witnessed great interaction and interest from students and teaching staff, who expressed their gratitude for such initiatives and the extent of their benefit in daily life. The participants noted that the training enabled them to apply some of these skills using medical tools and equipment to assist the injured before the arrival of advanced medical help.
