The Iraqi Red Crescent holds a seminar concerning the climate change in Basra.

The Iraqi Red Crescent Society in Basra governorate has held a symposium concerning the impact of climate change on society, in cooperation with the Middle East Consulting and Solutions office in Iraq.
The media coordinator for Basra branch of the IRCS stated: “The aim of holding this symposium is to provide a true picture of the scale of the climate challenges faced by the governorate, the economic losses, and to highlight the most prominent projects supporting local adaptation options and mitigation measures, aiming to achieve cities with integrated environmental and climate awareness.”
“The symposium was attended by representatives from government institutions (Marine Science Center, Directorate of Agriculture, Directorate of Environment, Disaster and Crisis Officer in the Ministry of Migration and Displaced, Meteorological and Monitoring Department), in addition to representatives from farmers in the districts of Zubair, Khour al-Zubair, and Safwan.”, the media coordinator added.
The media coordinator has also pointed out that the participants have discussed the country’s environmental conditions, the risk of drought and pollution on public health and the future of agricultural lands. They also provided recommendations and immediate solutions, emphasizing the importance of continuing to hold such meetings and symposia in the future.”
