A training workshop on violence based on social discrimination, utilizing new technology, in Erbil.
The Iraqi Red Crescent, in collaboration with the British Red Cross and the Danish Red Cross, organized a workshop using a new and innovative technique in training, namely the integration of virtual reality (VR) in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) training in Erbil governorate.
Rana Khaled who is in charge of the social and psychological support stated that the goal of this experience is to address the staff and volunteers’ biases and attitudes towards this issue by placing them in a virtual world where they experience the story of a survivor, which provides them with a deeper understanding of their suffering.
”This is the first workshop of its kind to implement this approach within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and we have initiated this pioneering experience with the Iraqi Red Crescent.”, Rana added.
Rana has also added, ” we hope that this initiative will contribute to raising awareness and improving the response to victims of gender-based violence.
