On the occasion of International Youth Day, which comes on August 12 each year, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society’s Youth Organisation launched (No to Drugs) campaign in all Iraqi governorates.
The society said in a statement, “The Youth Organisation of the Society started a major campaign under the title (No to Drugs) on the occasion of the International Youth Day because this scourge is one of the most prominent challenges facing the community, not only does it contribute to the destruction of youth, but its dangerous impact extends to all aspects of social and economic life, resulting in the devastation and destruction of the country, which is why we needed to build a strong barrier through awareness, as awareness represents the first line of defence for early prevention from falling into this quagmire.”
The statement said, “The Red Crescents’ volunteers and members in all governorates organised awareness campaigns on the risks of drugs and recognised the ensuing damages aimed at local communities, particularly youngsters. The Iraqi Red Crescent Society implemented “No to Drugs” campaign through a variety of programs and activities. Volunteer teams developed awareness campaigns, distributed awareness folders, and met directly with kids.”
However, the campaign carried out by volunteers has so far targeted over 10,000 people throughout Iraq”.
