The International Humanitarian Law is introduced through courses that are organized by the Iraqi Red Crescent Society.
In order to improve knowledge and stimulate information in their field of humanitarian work, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society organized introductory courses on the fundamentals of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement as well as International Humanitarian Law. More than 460 employees and volunteers of the Society took part in these courses.
The courses, which took place in every governorate, covered the following main topics: the movement’s history, foundational principles , and symbols; they also provided a synopsis of the movement’s constituent organizations, which include the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation, and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
It was also addressed how the Iraqi Red Crescent was founded and how it works with its partners to execute programs that target the most vulnerable populations with aid and assistance.
The participants conveyed their engagement and interest in the subjects covered, as well as their willingness and desire to keep sharing such important knowledge about the foundation of their profession and skill-building.
