Karbala Governorate’s high temperatures are the subject of a health awareness campaign by the Iraqi Red Crescent.

In the Karbala Governorate, the Red Crescent Society started a health awareness campaign regarding heat stress and sunstroke, including how to prevent it.

The media coordinator for the Karbala branch stated: “The campaign was first implemented in Al-Hussainiya district, then it will continue to include all districts and sub-districts of the governorate, in addition to the city centre, and the target group is the workers and employers in open places who are exposed to sunlight and high temperatures during their work.”

He continued: “The campaign’s targets were educated on the importance of staying away from the sun directly, especially between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, as well as the importance of drinking plenty of water to compensate for lost fluids and constantly hydrate the body.”

‏He emphasised that everyone must follow the guidelines and instructions released by the Ministry of Health and take all reasonable steps to avoid sunstroke and other heat-related illnesses.
