In collaboration with the Danish Red Cross, the IRCS has organized a training session for coordinators of social integration and psychosocial support in eight governorates.
According to the trainer (Saika Razak), the mental health delegate at the Danish Red Cross, the workshop focused on enhancing the capabilities and skills of the psychosocial support team in accordance with the most recent programs for professionals in this field.
Mrs. Saika has also stated that “this workshop is organized periodically every three months to develop a new action plan, to identify challenges faced by the coordinators in the governorates, and to put a solution to it.”
In the near future, the Danish Red Cross will design a program to teach trainers from among the IRCS’s cadres who will then train psychosocial support coordinators in conjunction with the Iraqi Red Crescent, she added.
Mrs. Rana Abdul Karim, the IRCS’s official in charge of psychological support, said: “The workshop curriculum included several axes, including theoretical training on the idea of protection and social diversity, the creation of an action plan for psychosocial support coordinators in the governorates, also distributing the activities to them and volunteers, and there will be follow-up field in order to obtain the best results from the implemented measures.
“The workshop, which lasted for three days, 18 participated in a psychosocial support coordinator from (8) governorates, which are (Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, Nineveh, Salah addin, Anbar, Baghdad, Maysan and Thiqar) “and these governorates were targeted because they are the most in need of psychosocial support”.
A future plan was formed for the activities that each of the participating branches will carry out in accordance with the needs of the impacted and underprivileged groups in its local community, according to participant Ali Abu Risha from Baghdad branch.
Mr.Ali has notified that the programs that support the unemployed and give them training skills to choose projects that benefit them and the community targeted the youth segment, as one of the beneficiaries, through his own project, renovated the classrooms in his younger brother’s school in Sadr city, His project began by purchasing the necessary necessities through a simple budget to expand his work and the renovation of more than (700) study seats in (4) schools.
