In collaboration with the Arab organization of Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies, the IRCS has conducted a training workshop concerning how to manage emergency operating rooms.
According to the trainer Abdullah Hamad and the general supervisor of the Arab center for disaster preparedness, the objectives of the workshop are to rehabilitate and train the IRCS cadres on the use of modern technologies such as satellite images and the information received from global meteorological centers, also the internet applications, in order to enhance the effectiveness of disaster management sector employees and the supporting departments.
Al-Hamad has added: “The course marks the beginning of electronic link between the Arab centre for disaster preparedness and the IRCS, in the event of an emergency or disaster in Iraq or any other Arab country, it is possible to work as a team by creating a virtual emergency room on the electronic platform to send reports and provide expertise for the affected party.

preparedness has continued, “The use of modern technologies will achieve great benefit in the amount of information and the preparedness and advance preparation, this will contribute to reducing the human and material losses, as we will have prior information and indicators to develop a proactive emergency plan.”
The director of structure and sanitation department in the IRCS and one of the participant in the above -mentioned workshop, Nawar Abdel Qader has stated: “The workshop aims to share experiences in managing emergency operations rooms and utilizing available global applications to provide services such as Google, Microsoft, and other applications that help determine the severity of disasters and affected groups, thereby allowing us to better mobilize resources for an optimal response.
Mr. Nawar has elaborated: “The use of these applications will provide us with future predictions on the basis of which we will be able to activate early warning for any emergency situation, as well as enable the IRCS cadres, ambulance crews, support agencies, and local community to be informed and warned of a disaster in order to minimize as much as possible its repercussions and achieve immediate and rapid response to any urgent situation “.
It is worth noting that Iraq’s climate has been susceptible to several natural disasters, such as floods, earthquakes, droughts, water scarcity, and dust storms, which brought serious social, environmental, and economic consequences.
