The Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has announced that the number of displaced people in Iraq since the last March till now is (155,200) displaced people at general areas of the country. While the number of displaced people from the city of Fallujah and its surrounding areas has reached more than (72835), and the total number of displaced people from Shirqat and Beji at the governorate of Salahulddin is (47115), either at Nineveh plain regions statistics of Red Crescent refers to the displacement of about (25250) people, the displaced (IDPs) were distributed in different areas of Anbar, Salahulddin and Erbil governorates.
Since the beginning of displacement operations, IRCS is working to respond to the needs of displaced people in various areas were they are. Ahmed Abdul Amir, the head of Disaster Management in IRCS said “IRCS is continuous to provide relief to the displaced and mobilized its humanitarian efforts to achieve our aim in helping the most vulnerable people in the community”.
During the last period, IRCS has distributed more than 250,000 ready lunch and more than 900,000 loaves of bread adding to 280,000 chilled water, as well as more than 10,000 food parcels. IRCS also look upon itself providing baby milk for more than 4,600 children.
On the other hand, IRCS has implemented programs of health, education, first aid and psychosocial support through deploying health teams in the camps and public places and the areas where displaced are found.
Dr.Ali Majed, the head of the health department in IRCS has said that the number of displaced people, who have get various health services was more than 59,000 displaced people from various regions of Iraq.
Iraqi Red Crescent Society Is an independent national humanitarian, society whose works to reduce the suffering of people without discrimination, in the time of peace and war, and during the natural and non- natural disasters. IRCS is one of the most effective societies within the International movement of the Red Crescent and Red Cross.
