The teams of the Iraqi Red Crescent (IRCS) have started to set up four water purification and desalination stations in each of the districts of (Abu Al-Khasib, Safwan, Shatt Al-Arab, and Al-Zubair) with a production capacity of 2000 liters per hour, every station are equipped with seawater shorthand filter in order to treat the highly saline water until 3000 liters and in 4 stations as first round within (16 stations) and the same technical specifications will be installed mostly in the areas and districts of Basrah governorate in order to reduce the scarcity of  the drinking water.
The plan of the IRCS includes installing eight purification, desalination, and sterilization water stations in the governorates of Samawah, Diwaniyah, Amarah, and Nasiriyah to a total of 24 stations with the same capacity per station which is (2000 liters per hour) to become the total production  (48,000 liters / 10 hours of operation per day), and emergency disaster recovery units also has been installed and it is a large-scale water purification and sterilization stations which is (M40, m15, m5), which will produce water quantities of 5000 liters / Hour, 15,000 liters/hour, 40000 liters/hour) and the production rate (60,000 liters/hour) And a total capacity of 600,000 liters in ten hours of operation, These stations will be located at the nearest point of the bid’ah areas to the Basrah governorate, because these stations will deal with water with low salts and the water will be transported by  water tanker trucks to Basrah.
On the other hand, the IRCS will distribute 10,000 health kits to enhance personal hygiene and prevent infections of intestinal diarrhea.
