The Rehabilitation and restoration of old schools which implemented by the Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) continues in many cities in Iraq in order to contain the crisis of lack of services suffered by most schools throughout the governorates, these campaigns carried out by the IRCS in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent aims to repair what can be repaired from the old schools in order to create a suitable educational environment and rehabilitate the damaged schools in order to receive students in their new school year.
Where the IRCS`s teams in the governorates of (Diwaniya, Wasit, Samawah, Dhi Qar) have renovated and rehabilitated (10)  old schools, including (4) in the districts of Afak, Hamza Al-Sharqi, Mumalaha and the city center of Diwaniya, also (2) old schools in  Al-Zahraa neighborhood, Al-Numaniya district in Wasit governorate and (2) in Samawah and the same in Dhi Qar governorate.
The restoration included restoring and replacing toilets with new sanitary facilities, installing water desalination systems, repairing the electrical network, painting walls, repairing student seats, equipping each school with a first aid box containing bandages and disinfectants, as well as planting some trees and shrubs in the schoolyards, The IRCS has chosen these schools because its the most affected after conducting a field survey carried out by the IRCS`s teams in those governorates to identify the number of the affected schools and the extent of damage in them.
The above-mentioned campaign is complementary to another campaigns in many cities in Iraq to rehabilitate dozens of old and damaged schools at a time when students are looking for the new school year across the country.
